Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"I've eaten here a few time and it's always good. I got the Shao bing this round, and it was good. It seemed a little flat. Peppers/hot sauce, or tomatoes, or picked onions would give it a zip. Every thing was well made and the staff were nice and quick with the order. The savory doughnut was delicious."
"Tried Small Eats today at the farmers market. Hubby and I ordered the shao bing and dan bing, both with pork. The service was friendly, food was delicious and made fresh to order. I now want to go back and try more items."
"I get food here every saturday at the vancouver farmers market. the pork gua bao is my absolute favorite and i crave it every week, but their specials are always good too! The dan bing is also delicious and the staff is friendly and quick and the farmers market atmosphere is so much fun!"
"Have been eating Taiwanese snacks and breakfast from Small Eats for the last 2 years every time I visit the Vancouver Farmer Market. The co-owners are super sweet and I love that that they source their ingredients locally and can make most of their items vegetarian. My favorite item is their fantuan (rice roll) that has pickled vegetables, veggie floss, purple rice and other stuff inside. My partner who is not Taiwanese, loves it too. I also love their dan bing (savory egg crepe with sprouts), which comes in a large portion and feeds 2 people. I recently tried their food from the lunar new year pop up last weekend and it was amazing and reminds me of food from home!!! I got almost all their vegetarian items just to try it out and everything was super delicious!"
"Currently my favorite place to eat in Vancouver. Friendly owners, and the food is so darn good - for their classic menu I love to grab a shao bing (which is like a flaky wrap with savory fillings; far better than what I had at Bing Mi in PDX, imho) and maybe a tea egg. But lately I highly recommend whatever specials they're offering... I dream of their mantou sandwich on a bao bun - basically an egg mcmuffin times a thousand. Or the ice cream sando, also on a toasted bao, with powdered sugar and crushed nuts... somehow it just works! And always creative flavors to choose from too. Can't wait to go again."
"The fan tuan was delicious and well made! The wait for our food was a bit crazy though. We ordered the bao, pancake, and fan tuan. The pork bao was very dry and the pancake tasted good. Overall, the food is tasty but you’ll have to wait at least 30mins for any order."
"Ive been twice now despite the market having so many options. Both times I've gotten the gua bao, one each of pork and mushroom. The pork is so good and the bao so fluffy!!"
"A Taiwanese food stall at the Vancouver Farmers Market! I asked in advance if they had vegan options and they said yes, so I went to try it! I love Taiwanese vegetarian food so much, and Fan Tuan is really the best! They use chewy purple rice with soy floss and pickles inside! It tasted just like Taiwan and made me want to go back again. I could eat this over and over again."
